The section has been taken through the restaurant, market and external walkway. For those rendering wizz’s, the image was rendered using artlantis with the usual postproduction in Photoshop.

Restaurant development

Below is part of a study which I have been undertaking in the restaurant part of the scheme. Last week I showed an image of an external bay, now I am looking to develop the space internally, introducing roof lights and views which maximise vistas across the surrounding context. I plan to manipulate the size and shape of the rooflights once the model is taken into ecotect- but initial studies show that they will need to be smaller as too much light is entering the space.

I have been looking to increase the bridges efficiency over the past few days- questioning where additional opportunities for accommodation could be. The image below is part of an elevational study I am undergoing at present, and highlights where I have added ‘bulk’. It shows the portion of the west elevation which adjoins the north bank. Accommodation, which is the restaurant in its new location, now occupies the space above the ramped entrance level. The restaurant will have fantastic views over the Thames, plus its location will maximise visual connections to the market hall below and the allotment ‘units’ above. I feel that it is extremely important that the source of the food is known by all who choose to eat in the restaurant and this story can be told through these architectural moves just mentioned.

Structural frame

The past few days have been spent developing the structural frame of the scheme. Its integration with the buildings form and its continuity have been key throughout its development. Below are a few snap shots of the northern most part of the scheme, this is also the area which i featured last week.
