This is a quick section showing the existing buildings. As mentioned in previous posts, I am thinking of using up to 4 existing buildings, and these are marked in a pretty pink colour on the site map above. Generally the site is slightly sloping towards the east, where the main city road is located. The site has very good transport connections, regarding the main road on the east and the railway on the west.

These are my favourite images showing my site I visited last week. I selected them as I particularly like the smoke coming from the power plants behind the forest. The former coal mine buildings look absolutely amazing with such background. Generally industrial landscape is very common in Silesia and Jaworzno is one of these cities where almost every inhabitant is somehow connected with mining.

There are 4 existing building I am thinking of using in the project. These are respectively:

Following the previous idea of the Energy Awareness Centre being responsible for research on renewable energy, I am going for the BIOMASS. The decission is based on site-specific factors, mostly climate, however also on the tradition of using coal (fossilized Biomass) in the area.

The diagram shows roughly the main scheme activities.

Prototype building test 1

So there it comes, first, the goal is to move 2 side balls in opposite directions. Movie made without water source, by turning the ‘mill’ by hand.

The machine

The water flow from the toilet tank activates a series of processes.

1. The water is poured into a dish that acts as a weight that causes the structure to move.

2. The structure is organized in order to create a dramatic effect of moving balls. The balls create a surface that flows in the air as long as the water supply is on.

3. The main idea is to create a kind of ‘soda machine’, however by using principles of ‘rube goldberg’. The idea is to show that during the time necessary for filling a cup with water, there could be energy generated to serve various needs and the ‘ball surface’ is the artistic solution and a kind of ‘screen’ presenting the possibilities. yo amazing;) prototype comes next.
