I have decided to park the film in its current state as I feel it would be better to add information and review as my Thesis develops… I have cut it down and worked up a couple of scenes but still feel there is some way to go. I am happy with the overall sequence, just not with the level of enhancement.

Spanning between the two bridges- the ‘sewage tappers’ would thrive on the Thames Tunnel, located directly beneath them. The raw sewage would be extracted from the tunnel and applied to their crops, which when coupled with the south facing site, thrive to provide ample supplies for the self sustenant community.

I have been busy modelling the existing roofscape above the Morgan and Royal Arcades. It will be important to establish the existing complexity of form at all layers…roofscape, basement, floor level etc. in order to gain a true understanding of the ‘hidden’ volume and spatial hierarchy.

Inspiration towards some of the ‘secret’ programmatic elements!
This video I found on YouTube is shot where I propose my thesis project to be based. Billingsgate Market is the largest inland fish market in the United Kingdom and its 54 market traders distrubute much of the fish eaten in London’s restaurants. Open daily from 5am to 8:30 am this market is finished even before the majority of the bankers have sat down at their desks in the adjacent Canary Wharf. Therefore you might say it was an area of complete contrasts.
However much of the fish you see on display is not indigenous to Britsh waters and is often flown to the UK to suit consumer demands. In a time when global fish stocks are dwindling there does seem to be the need to demonstrate more accountability for the sourcing of fish. So perhaps in a way Billingsgate Market, in its current guise, does reflect a time of greed and prosperity as much as its neighbour.
Looking into the manufacturing process, i decided to analyse the key elements within any production that would be required should I incorporate such into my programme. As car assembly was revolutionary in its initial inception back in 1907 by Henry Ford, I decided to use this as my base. The use of a conveyor system for assembly was pioneered by him and has since informed more or less the whole manufacturing industry, as car production continues to do.
